Virtually all these photographs were taken in one city, Wolverhampton. The local MP Enoch Powell had achieved notoriety with his anti migrant rhetoric. A powerful response came from the Wolverhampton Inter-Faith group who commissioned an exhibition at the local Art Gallery depicting the rich variety of religious belief that was present in the city. The exhibition broke attendance records at the gallery, and two teachers developed the material into books for use in teaching across the national curriculum.
The Moslem community worshipped in a large detached Victorian house that had been completely converted into a Mosque.
